Work vent: I am obnoxious and need to grow up

The scene: my second job. My first call of the shift.

Me: Good afternoon, blah blah blah. Could I get your first and last name, please?

Client (bitchy and raising her voice): FIRST NAME LAST NAME CITY STATE.

Me (cringing): Thank you, what can I help you with?

Client (still bitchy and loud): I NEED TO SPEAK TO <<POOR IN-OFFICE EMPLOYEE>>

Me (getting a headache): I’m sorry, ma’am, but this is the X corporate line, not the local office. It comes to us if the office is closed or doesn’t answer. I can set up an appointment for Poor In-Office Employee to call you. What city and state is the office in?

Client (still at it, and now interrupting): CITY, STATE. SHE JUST CALLED ME AND I WANT TO TALK TO HER NOW!!

Me (getting annoyed): Please stop yelling at me. Her office is closed, but I will…

Client (yelling louder): I’M NOT YELLING! SHE JUST F\*\*KING CALLED ME! GIVE ME THE GODDAMN PHONE NUMBERS FOR EVERY OPEN OFFICE IN BIGGER CITY, STATE NOW!

Me (getting upset): gives her phone number for one office. (My speech could not have been more clipped)

Client (screaming): YOU NEED TO GROW UP AND NOT BE SO F\*\*KING OBNOXIOUS!!!!! <<click>>

Honestly, who the hell do these people think they are? How do people get so arrogant that they think they can treat anybody, let alone a total stranger, like that? I almost, almost called the local office to warn them. And I hope they didn’t answer when she called.
