This happened several years ago at a former job I had. Calls were to and from internal customers – other employees of the company. Most frequent calls were requests for physical files.
Somewhere along the way I had picked up a little saying I liked and would gleefully recite it to some of my more playful customers – when they thanked me at the end of the call I would sing out, “Service is my passion!” I know, it’s cringe. But everyone I used it with got a little chuckle out of it.
Until one day I sang it out wrong.
“Passion is my service!”
Dead silence on the other end, then the dude cracked up laughing, as did my coworkers sitting nearby. I was absolutely mortified. Thankfully HR was not notified. I never use that saying at work anymore.
