Rush my stuff because I organized this event. Really, not really.

Caller: “I requested my sheets an hour ago, doesn’t that seem like a long time?”

Me: “Let me take a look and see what’s going on… it looks like the request was received about 35 minutes ago and has been assigned to one of our runners.”

C: “Well, I called an hour ago.”

M: “I’m looking at the original call and I see it came in at (time), perhaps I’m off by a couple minutes, but it was about 35 minutes ago.”

C: “Don’t speak to me in a condescending tone.”

M: “Ma’am, we have two separate issues that I’m addressing. The first is that you’re saying you waited an hour for a request, which I have information showing contrary, and the second is that your request has been assigned to-

C: “I’m speaking now, I’ve been waiting for-“

M: “Actually you cut me off, but that’s okay – please continue.”

C: “Do I need to get in touch with my meeting planner to get my sheets sent to me?”

M: “No ma’am, your request has been assigned to a runner and should be delivered shortly.”

C: “Well, don’t you think that I’ve been waiting too long?”

M: “Guest requests are completed in the order that they are received.”

C: “That’s not an answer to my question.”

M: “I’m sorry about that, unfortunately sometimes our runners have a high volume of requests resulting in extended delays.”

It’s not my fault that you don’t like being fact checked for fabricating information. You called telling my team to rush your request and attempted to use your position of power, which after the fact I determined this person isn’t even an authorized signer despite their claims.Their request to rush their items is the epitome of condescending.

I’m sure that every member of their organization would be excited to learn that individuals like this consider themselves more important than everyone else staying.
