It’s because of the HOLIDAY

I work for a credit card company. Part of my job is issuing new cards to card holders that need them, whatever the reason. Usually, we can overnight cards or have them delivered the next following day. Since tomorrow is a holiday, most people are not getting their cards until Wednesday or Thursday. Explaining this has me banging my head against my desk every other call. The conversation usually goes as follows (this was taken from an actual conversation I had with a woman who was very upset lmao)

Me:Thank you so much for verifying your information. Because of the holiday we are unable to do the next day delivery, so your card will arrive on [Wed or Thurs] I apologize for the inconvenience.

Card member: can you overnight the card? I get cards overnighted all the time, why can’t you do it this time?

Me: it’s because of the holiday, the card delivery times are being delayed.

Card member: but you guys are open on the holiday right? I pay [stupid amount in fees] a year for this card and I use it all the time!

Me: Unfortunately most couriers do not run on holidays, Labor Day being one of them. You will have to wait until [day] to receive your card, no supervisor can override that for you.

Anyone else feel my pain?
