Well… ok, bye then

Several years ago I worked in a call center doing high-volume high-risk auto insurance sales. This sometimes required multiple and or lengthy calls to gather necessary data. It often resulted in the caller being so relieved at the lower than expected cost, convenience, speed, and dealing with me, a pleasant person in general, that I quickly became their temporary hero.

So it came to the end of a transaction, guy was so dang happy, we thanked each other and he said “good bye, love you”. Like you do with those you love. Couple seconds of silence on both ends then we both cracked up.

That one call out of 30 can change a persons whole day and the humor can linger long.
