My shoes are more important than yours!

I’mma call this guy Kevin, cause his real name just makes me cringe, but I work for a shoe company. Right now, with the lockdowns, it makes our company’s delivery window STRETCH quite a bit longer and most folks understand and bear with us in this hard times. Not this guy though, he called in and asked where his order was, that he had made literally two days ago! Kevin was MAD, he needed these for his “Precious Baby Boy” for his birthday!

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand that you need these awesome shoes, and I’d love to have them in your hands right now, but there are also a metric TON of folks also ordering their items and without a doubt, are also requesting the expedited shipping as well. Now then Kevin wasn’t having this, and proceeded to grill me about how this wasn’t going to fly with him, that his order was more special than EVERY single others and that he needed by TOMORROW, a SUNDAY. This means that somehow it would needed to just appear from one side of the country to the other.

As soon as I attempted to explain the delays due to shipping companies and our own policies to keep our employees safe, he got aggressive. “Do I need to tell my wife about this? She’s a journalist for XX Times and we can get you fired!” No sir, please PLEASE don’t tell your wife how I am DOING MY JOB. When I attempted to cool him off by finding out what I could do, he got angry further, claiming he knew a certain sports celebrity that had made deals with our company before, and THAT would mean I would lose my job. Okay, then if you know mr celebrity, why not as HIM to get you them?

Finally Kevin messed up by saying that one sweet phrase. “Well, I’m going to call my lawyer, this is false advertisement!” We have strict guidelines of what to do if someone threatens us with lawsuits, so no matter what, we are only to say “and here is the number to our lawyer, from here on out all communication needs to be through them.” I got to wish him a nice day, and transfer him off to some other person only to find out that THAT person needed to take a break after from how horrible he had been to them as well. Oh well, just another day here for the company. I’m rambling now due to how long ago it was in the day, but still, seriously. If you know you need something and that day is coming up? You’d best order it well ahead of time, not two days before.
