Credit card company keeps hanging up on me

I have a credit card from a small company. It was my first card, and I got it because I was young and had no credit. I’m married now, and was able to pay it off, and I want to get a better card. I called the customer service line to cancel my card.

First, you have to go through several automated menus, each with the option to pay for a credit line increase. You finally get to the main menu, and you can finally press 0 to talk to an Account Specialist.

Rings once.

Rings twice.

“Due to the coronavirus, we are experiencing higher call volumes than usual. Please try again.”

Click.

Cue internal screaming and frustration.
