Nobody hangs up

As a student I worked a month in a call center that conducts costumer surveys. I called thousands of people, and not once someone just hanged up on me. They always friendly declined and came up with excuses (not the time, not interested), which gave my the possibility to put my foot in the door (when is a better time to call back, this survey will actually help improve your costumer experience, etc.). I really was surprised by the friendliness (even if people where angry, they where it in an apologising way). I wouldn’t have taken it personal if they would have just hanged up.

If I get a call now from a call center, I cut their sentence, say “sorry, not interested”, and hang up. I don’t want to waste my time, nor theirs
