For ten years I’ve worked in a call centre that replaces nurses, clerks and PSW’s for sick calls and other absences. We take care of five local hospitals, two of which serve major metropolitan areas. In my time there, there have been Christmases, new years eves, super bowl parties, a royal wedding and power outages that lasted for DAYS, basically anything you could expect to see result in a surge of absent calls. But nothing, NOTHING could have prepared us for the day after marijuana was legalized. It was mayhem, I’ve never experienced that volume of sick calls in all my time there. The thing is, the laws regarding marijuana were really not strictly enforced to begin with so for this to happen was actually pretty funny. Except of course for all of the nurses that had to work that day with a double workload…
