I was working as tech support for a big cable company I got this call about a satellite tv service in which the client must have an antenna installed to get the tv signal instead of it being through cable.
installation was somewhat expensive but it was possible for clients to install it themselves if they knew what they were doing, of course it’d be their responsibility.
I got this call from a very sweet lady and as I was going through the technical bits, turn the box off, turn the box on, check for cables and whatnot, the lady tells me she can’t do it, as the box is on the roof. the antenna is supposed to be on the roof, not the box the box is supposed to be by the tv, so I confirm with her that we’re talking about the box and not the antenna and she confirms me.
I mute the call, start laughing and telling the story to my colleagues and then I remembered “how the hell does she change channels?” my colleagues got intrigued too so I go back to the call and I ask her that, to which she answered:
“I point the remote to the sky”
It was really funny, it was as if the box was God.
