This has been about 15 years ago when I was last on the phones in a call center (But man, does nothing change when I read the stories here!)
When I put in my notice to go into IT and leave the SRAES call center I had some fun on my calls that day. (I was more giving with refunds and discounts). But what really stood out to me was the fact that no one listens to your name when you answer their call (inbound center). I started each conversation with a different name. (None were common names)
Some examples were
- Frodo
- Slick Rick
- SamIam
- Helpful Steve
- Jackie Chun
That’s all I can remember off my head, but I remember leaving and my manager laughing since not once did a customer remember the name I gave and not once demanded a supervisor.
