My last call center job was processing orders for an upscale pizza chain. The company decided to offshore its takeout line to a call center to reduce the load on the stores.
So one day a guy calls in and places his order and at the end of the call he says,
“I’d also like a side chicken breast but I don’t want it grilled, I want it sautéed. Now I know some of your cooks are wetbacks who don’t speak English, so the Spanish word for sautéed is salteado.”
I made sure to leave that detail off so he’d get the damn thing grilled.
