A short one but something that has stuck with me over the years.
10+years ago I worked for a TV broadcaster that offered Porn on PPV. I Had a lady call to query a Gay Porn Movie that appeared on her bill.
The customers bill would go out with the name of the PPV ordered but didn’t have the date it was ordered, just that it was ordered in that month’s billing cycle.
After going through the motions she asked me to confirm the date and time the order was placed. I don’t remember the exact conversation word-for-word but after I confirmed the date she checked her diary, came back and said she was away from home and the only person in the place was her boyfriend.
You could hear the penny drop. She just quietly said “oh god” and hung up.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt anymore awkward in all my years in a Call Center.
