This is a call one of my coworkers took, who handles customers directly vs me (businesses).
Caller: I’d like to make a payment on my account and have it reactivated.
Coworker: Sure! (pulls up and verifies account, it has been deactivated for 10 years due to nonpayment, it’s not gonna be that easy lol) Um…. It looks like it’s been a while. You can make a payment but we will not be able to activate your account today.
C: What the fuck? Why??
CW: We would need you to negotiate a new contract and pay a deposit since you have a history of slow and non-payment.
C: FINE! FUCK YOU THEN! I’M NOT PAYING YOU!!
CW: Ok. disconnect
You weren’t paying anyway, so you don’t have much leverage here. Bye Felicia!

Caller: My boss wanted me to call, you guys haven’t paid for XXXXX invoice yet.
Me: That’s weird, let me take a look and see why that would be. (pulls account) Looks like we never got that one. We’ll need you to fax it in along with the backup paperwork so we can get it paid for you.
C: That’s bullshit! We sent it in online! YOU should be the ones doing all the work YOU owe us the money!
Me: We have to have an invoice and paperwork to back it up for tax purposes. If you would like us to pay for this, then this is the process we have to follow. Please fax us and we will verify everything and pay you.
C: THAT’S TOO MUCH WORK!
Me: Sending one fax?
C: WHO’S GOING TO PAY ME FOR THIS LABOR??
Me: Don’t you get paid an hourly wage by your boss to help them run their business?
C: click
