This happened a few years back when I worked at a call center for DirecTV. I took calls from customers who wanted to cancel their premium channels (HBO, Showtime etc.) and my job was to convince them to keep the channels or get a different premium channel.
I got a call from a customer who was looking to cancel Cinemax. For those who don’t know, Cinemax has a lot of soft core porn (sometimes referred to as skinemax) which they usually play after 9pm. He didn’t seem to be interested in the action movies on Cinemax so I asked him what types of shows he liked to watch.
He replied that he enjoyed the DIY network and shows about woodworking. I then told him that after 9 o’clock Cinemax had plenty of woodworking shows. He got completely quiet. I’m not sure if he didn’t understand or wasn’t sure how to respond. After a long uncomfortable silence I cancelled Cinemax and told him to have a nice day.
