An odd conversation

A few years ago I was working taking calls for an appliance repair service offered by a power company. Basically all I did was schedule repair appointments, actual technical knowledge wasn’t required.

Me: Good evening, this is Dougboard, thank you for calling ______ Electric Company, how may I help you?

Caller, sounds like an older gentleman: Yes, this is the appliance repair, right?

Me: Yes, that’s correct. Did you need a repair appointment scheduled?

Caller: No I don’t actually have your service. I just wanted to know if you can open a dishwasher while it’s running?

Me: Er, well, this isn’t really a technical help line, but no you shouldn’t open the dishwasher while it’s running.

Caller: Then could you please explain that to my wife?

The man immediately puts an older woman on the phone, who comes across somewhat sheepish sounding.

Wife: Hello?

Me: Uhm, hello ma’am. Your husband wanted me to let you know not to open the door while it’s running?

Wife: I understand, I’m sorry.

The wife then hangs up the phone before I can go into the regular “is there anything else I can help with?” spiel. Probably the most unusual call I ever had to take.
