This pisssed me off. I’m not sure how many people know this, but if a credit card number starts with a certain number, you can tell which company it’s associated with. 3 for AMEX, 4 for Visa and 5 for Mastercard. I didn’t know this, so I always ask for the credit card type before payment. He kept ignoring my inquiry when I was taking payment and finally said “it’s a THREE, so it’s AMEX, but obviously you wouldn’t know.” It made me feel poor and worthless. I do have a visa and a mastercard, I also have an honours degree from a great university and think I am a relatively smart girl. I’m just not sure what I want to do with my life so I’m at a call centre at the moment. Just because I work here doesn’t mean I’m a low-life who is poor and has nothing. SO MEAN.
