Finally inspired to share a tale. I take inbound calls, if I try to call someone outbound it holds up the queue/counts against me being available to take calls, occasionally I will make a call that will hurt my stats but ultimately if it is something time sensitive or ongoing issue my bosses have no problem with it. That being said..here’s how a call went today:
Me: hi this is /u/music_and_wine blah blah intro.. cut off by caller
Spiteful Lady (SL): I’VE BEEN ON HOLD FOR OVER HALF AN HOUR 3 DIFFERENT TIMES YOU PEOPLE KEEP HANGING UP AND I JUST WANT TO KNOW (STATUS OF ISSUE) CAN YOU PLEASE TAKE A CALLBACK NUMBER FOR ME AND CALL ME BACK
Me: (apologies and verification of info and callback number etc) I do have to place you on hold but I will call back if it gets disconnected
SL: OK FINALLY THANK YOU.
….. I place her on hold. What happens? Immediate disconnect. I do my thing and immediately call back.
Me: hi! This is blah blah etc the line got disconnected I do have an update for you.
SL: yeah I actually hung up on you. On purpose.
Me: fantastic I’ve notated your account with all the info and you’ll get x update by y date.
You bet I damn near wrote a paragraph in the notes about her purposely hanging up
