Why do people wait so long to complain

So this was my last call of the day today. Me=Me C=caller.

I’m on mobile so I’ll try my best to format this the best I can on the first try.

Me: *greeting plays*

C: Hi, I took a trip about a year ago and I didn’t earn points on the trip. I have been trying to get it resolved for the past month.

(Side note I can’t resolve point problems that’s a different department)

Me: Sorry to hear that I have to get you over to our point department but I’m sorry to inform you that we have no way of back dating points more than 120 days.

C: I ALREADY TALKED TO THEM AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. THEY COULD ONLY OFFER ME 1000 POINTS THE TRIP WAS WORTH MORE THAN 3000

Me: Ma’am. Im sorry that the points offered weren’t what you were expecting but we can’t do anything beyond 120 days. When did you notice the points were not added

C: the day after the trip

Me: may I ask why didn’t you call earlier.

C: we’ll I did but I was on hold for 10 min and they said they had to transfer me to the point department and I didn’t wanted to be transferred

Me: well I’m sorry about that (tf I’m not) if you look on the back of your card you’ll see they have a direct number did you also try that since than you tend to wait less and you wouldn’t have to be transferred

C: Well I didn’t have the time to do that. I don’t want to be transferred. WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME

Me: Nothing

C: TF YOU MEAN NOTHING. I WANT TO TALK TO YOUR SUPERVISOR

Me: Well like I said we can’t do anything after the 120 days. And you didn’t like what the point department offered and unfortunately my supervisor left for the day but even if she was here honestly she wouldn’t take your call

C: TF YOU MEAN SHE WOULD NOT TAKE MY CALL THATS HER JOB TO DO THAT AND HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE A SUPERVISOR WHEN YOUR WORKING

Me: Unfortunately ma’am that is not her job. Her job is to supervise me and not to take calls. If you would like to speak to someone else else I could transfer you to our escalation department but you said you didn’t want to be transferred so right now with the options you gave me I can do nothing

She than starts spewing every slur in the book range from the r word to the n word and fa**ot

Me: unfortunately ma’am I have to disconnect the call since you are cursing have a nice day

C: DONT YOU FUC

The line cuts out when I hung up

But why wait a full year to resolve a problem
