About 7 years ago I worked at a call center for an internet and digital TV provider. I was first line, and nothing exciting usually happened during my calls. However, sometimes my randomly generated lunch break would be at the same time with a girl from retainment. She was pretty talkative and would tell weird stories about customers with minimal prompting. I don’t even remember her name anymore but a couple of her stories stuck with me and I still tell them to other people sometimes.

A woman calls and demands the name and phone number of the guy who a couple months before that installed the internet in her flat. Obviously doesn’t get it because we can’t disclose personal information. Threatens to cancel service, ends up on call with the girl from retainment. Turns out, during the installment she wasn’t at home, only her daughter was. She had sex with the internet guy and is now pregnant, and the mom is trying to hunt down the baby daddy.

An old lady wants to cancel the digital TV. The girl checks her account, turns out it’s only a week old.
Girl: Why do you want to cancel the account?
Old lady: There’s a problem with your digital TV – all the channels are in black and white.
Girl: Would you like me to sent a repairman to fix it?
Old lady: I already had a repairman come in.
Girl: And what did he say?
Old lady: He told me that I have a black and white TV and that there’s nothing he can do.
