“Good, I was planning to commit suicide.”

I work for a company that notifies people about active Takata airbag recalls. If you aren’t familiar, these airbags were manufactured incorrectly and over time they deteriorate and can explode. They have killed and injured people.

I tell the customer my usual speech of “you have an active recall that could result in injury or death” etc and he says..

“Good. I was planning to commit suicide. What I’ll do is take my car and ram it into something over and over again in hopes the airbag explodes. We’re going to opt out of any further calls, okay?”

…okay? You realize you could’ve just said the second line about opting out and I would’ve done the exact same thing…marked you to be opted out. I don’t understand why it’s necessary to say that to some one.
