So we have all been there trying to verify the spelling of a name or email address, making sure we haven’t switched D/B S/F etc. early on in my call center days I had up the standard phonetic spelling chart in my cube until I memorized it (alpha bravo Charlie…).
Now I understand that not everyone has these memorized and being put on the spot makes you pause occasionally, but there are some the just make me laugh. Example I had someone say “Y like you” (u was also in the email address didn’t coming up with a word for that one) and “Q…. .. . Like Q” in the same spelling. Honestly it took a bit not to laugh. I’ve had other customers just use silly words for the fun of it, one liked breakfast food references when he could fit it in.
So for the fun of it, what have been the funniest (or most annoying) versions of spelling you’ve heard?
