If you’re so busy, why did you answer the phone?!??!

Local insurance agent in a tri-state area, US.

I often have to make outbound calls to existing customers about changes to their insurance policies that were submitted online but need verified or can’t be processed for whatever reason, they left a voicemail requesting a callback, to review premium changes, updates required by banks, etc.

I call this guy who answered for the 3rd day in a row but keeps saying he’s busy. Why the **** are you answering the phone from a number that’s not saved in your phone when you’re in a meeting, at dinner, late for work, or whatever. It never ceases to amaze me how somebody can be so oblivious, illogical, and ignorant.

What’s a nice way to say this without costing the company its business?
