I work for an electronics manufacturer. A big one. Probably that one you’re thinking of. One call in particular has me shaken a bit at the moment. My customer calls because she wants to set up her new phone and transfer her data from the old phone. Easy call. Right away I hear her basically yelling at someone else there with her. I try to move on with the call.
Are you connected to WiFi?
She has it at home and she’s nearly there. Ok cool. I can hang for a bit while you get there. That’s when I hear her say that she could walk faster if she had asthma. I realize it’s her kid. He’s complaining that he can’t keep up because of his asthma. Her son… Who sings like he’s maybe 6 or 7 years old is basically telling this horrible fucking person that he can’t breathe but she’s more concerned with getting home to get her fucking phone set up. I didn’t know what to do, so I just kinda sat there in stunned silence. She thankfully spares me from having to hear anymore by saying she’ll have to call back when she gets home.
I’m torn. I don’t know what to do now. I want to help protect this kid but I can’t. I can only hope someone else is able to. I’m sitting here fuming and crying because I can’t imagine being a parent and just ignoring your kids like that. My son is 2. And it didn’t matter what age he was, if he told me he couldn’t keep up because he can’t fucking BREATHE! NOTHING would matter more than that…
I just needed to kinda get this out. This literally happened less than 20 minutes ago.
