I started a job last week as an entry level data analyst at another company.
Highlights-
1. 23% pay increase
2. I love data and am excited to learn more
3. I never have to talk to another customer again
4. I NEVER HAVE TO TALK TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER AGAIN
It was a long process. The job search took about 4 months. I applied for over 100 jobs. Out of all of those, I got interviews with 6 companies, 4 of which I moved through a bunch of rounds of different interviews and assessments, thinking it was going well and I was going to get an offer, only to be told eventually that nopeee I didn’t get it. I was kind of panicking because I was running out of companies to apply for.
A lot of the people I interviewed with seemed to think of customer service as an “easy job”. A couple people asked me something along the lines of “So at your current job, you just answer phones?” Just answer phones… Yes, I just answer the phone, and then hang it right back up. Also a few places I applied to called/emailed to tell me that I wasn’t qualified for whatever job I had applied for, but they had an opening in their customer service department they wanted to hire me for. NO THANK YOU.
But, I finally got a new job!!!! A JOB!!! All it takes is one!!
Now that I am off the phones, I feel so much better. And now I realize how stressful talking to angry people day in and day out really was. I can breathe now.
And I no longer have to time my bathroom breaks 👍💃😀
There’s hope out there, my reddit buddies.
