How has a call center changed you?

How has working in a call center changed you? In personality and outlook?

I’ve found myself feeling much more cynical losing empathy for idiots, harder to make connections with meaningful friendships, hate small talk, wanting to be alone and not being patient. For me the most frustrating parts are when customers aren’t prepared and having to repeat myself over and over again.

What’s also annoying is that sometimes I can solve their issue within 30 seconds of the call starting (no joke) yet they keep wanting to talk and ask why but I don’t care.

I’ve stopped apologizing
