Does anybody else despise the ‘How are you?’ question from a customer?

I absolutely cannot stand this question, and I wish I could be honest in my reply.

However, I just lie and say that I’m fine, and ask them how they’re doing.

Listen, Customer, I work in a call center; how do you think I’m doing?
You don’t really care, do you? So, why are you even asking?
I don’t really care how you are. So, why am I even asking?
I wish I could tell you that I’m depressed, that I hate my job, and that I’m thinking of quitting – but I can’t.
I wish I could tell you that I’m sweating my back off and have a pounding headache because I am working from home during a heatwave and have no air conditioning – but I can’t.
I wish I could tell you that my manager makes an already unpleasant job unbearable due to the level of micromanaging they do with me, and how I feel like I’m constantly under a microscope – but I can’t.
I wish I could tell you everything, Customer, but I can’t.

So, why don’t you just tell me what you want, so that I can help you, and then we can both fuck off?
