Customer (C): “HI I want to [do thing that is available to be done online, there is a charge to do through customer service, though]”
Me (M): “I’m happy to walk you through doing this with our app or website!”
C: “Nah, they just do it for me, I don’t feel like using those options.”
M: “Okay, well if there isn’t some sort of error or issue logging in, there will be a fee for me to set that up, so let’s save you some money!”
C: “A fee?? Can’t you just waive that??”
M: “Sure, what sort of issue are you having with the site or app?”
C: “Nothing! I don’t want to log in, that’s the issue!”
Jesus H Christ, why are people so opposed to doing something for themselves to save money? I personally prefer to do things on my own and not have to wait on hold to do what can be done in a couple minutes by myself. And this is definitely not isolated to elderly people, in fact I hear it more with middle aged or younger people than anyone.
