I am currently out of my call center job, but remembered this funny story and wanted to share. It wasn’t me, but my friend. It was her last day of work, a weekend, so a peaceful day. She and a few other colleagues stuck at work were playing uno and cracking jokes. Suddenly there is a beep, and people check who got the dreaded call, my friend did, she sighted and moaned in despair “Noooo, why meee?”. She gets to the actual phone (a couple of meters away, headset on her head the whole time), she reaches to press the mute/unmute button and sees that the treacherous light isn’t there, meaning that she forgot to mute the phone after the last call and the client heard everything from the moment of the beep. She paused for a couple of seconds, and then continued with “Good afternoon, my name is Valerie, how may I help you?” because call centers blacken your soul and deprives of all freaks to give.
