Closing accounts and checks reopening them

I use to work for the bank and they would tell customers that before they closed accounts to make sure all checks were cashed. Otherwise it will reopen the account. It was policy.

Yet I still got angry customers calling in saying that they don’t understand why account is open and shouldn’t be held responsible for overdraft fees. I can’t tell you how many demanded supervisors when it was clear at the time no more check cashing.
