I was having a good day, until Karen refused to fix her problems.

Title could really say it all, but honestly… I’ve been at this call center for around a year, been in the general work for longer, and this was the call that got me further on my nerves.

It was as if I was guessing, because my eyes zoomed to the little blurb left by the department that transferred her while I was greeting her.

Karen couldn’t use her mobile data. She refused to talk to tech support, she refused any and all troubleshooting and just wanted to cancel her two phones (note: as far as I could tell from her ramblings, the problem was in one number). I try to talk to her, but she’s all rage from the get go, flat out says she doesn’t want to fix anything, she’s done with my company, she’s paying for something that’s not there, we’re failing her, her cellphone records everything, she just wants to get rid of us…

Seeing as the call was going nowhere, I said I’d go and get her numbers cancelled… And then I told her that since she had a binding contract ongoing, she’d have to pay nearly 200€ for each number as a penalty (it’s 10€ for each remaining month).

When I tell you all hell broke loose… She screamed more than ever, she told me I could put the penalty up my mom’s ass, said we were thieves, she said she was right, we were in the wrong, she had proof, she had witnesses, she wasn’t going to pay anything, we could take her to court…

Honestly, anything I said set her off, she kept raging, me saying whether or not she paid was up to her made her angry, me saying she didn’t have pay anything if she just tried to fix it first talking to tech suppprt, but she refused any and all attempts to help or diffuse the situation.

Then she had the nerve to ask why we were like this, saying she was a customer for so long, and I pointed out she refused any all help or fixing, which just set her off on her rant about she didn’t want any help or to keep our services…

At the end, my own supervisor was telling me to just hang up, I’d told her everything, she was just going in circles (which I did point out to her), until I basically just told her the call was over, there was nothing else to discuss, and just transferred the call so he’d hang up.

My supervisor, bless him, let me get up and go to the bathroom for a while, and I nearly cried because this call from hell just rattled my nerves (bad time to be weaning anti depressants, I guess).

I’m just trying to work, goddamm…
