I work for a pretty popular bank that offers online bank accounts. I love my job but this is customer service so youre bound to get… KAREN.

So karen called in because her IRS tax payment check bounced due to NSF. She had a line of credit on her account but it wasn’t enough to cover the charge so her check rejected and she got a fee.
Karen: Why did you reject my check? I have plenty of money in my accounts!
Me: well there weren’t funds available in the checking account and we can’t just pull money from your other accounts without your permission.
Karen: IVE BEEN WITH THIS BANK FOR 25 YEARS AND I DO NOT DESERVE THIS I HAVE $10000 IN YOUR BANK etc. etc.
Me:well I’m sorry you feel that way but if we pulled money from your other accounts on every overdraft, someone could clean out everything with 1 check and be done with it
Karen: I dont care! That was my tax payment!
Me (muted so karen doesn’t hear): if it was so important, why didn’t you make sure there was money in there???
Me: I’m sorry but we cannot force a check through and overdraft your account more than what is already allowed.
Karen: well then I will close my accounts and take my $10k elsewhere!
Me realizing we won’t have to deal with her: well if you feel that way we won’t force you to stay here. Have a great night!
The level of entitlement this karen had was astounding.
Tldr: karen wrote a check to the IRS, yelled at me because she couldn’t be bothered to make sure there were funds available to cover it
