A gentleman who doesn’t have internet

I am working in a call center for a bank. One day I receive a call from an older gentleman. After the pleasantries were exchanged, he explains the problem he has.

“On my bill it says I made a payment for internet for $200. I did not do that. I don’t even have internet.”

Me: “Oh, no, sir, that was a payment TO your credit card.”

OG: “Yeah, that wasn’t me. Must be fraud. Why would I be making a payment for internet, I don’t even have internet.”

Me: “No, no, sir, that was a payment for your credit card bill, it was done over the internet”

OG: audible confusion

Me: “Did someone make a payment for your bill?”

OG: “No, I am the only person who has access to this account, and I’m the one making all the payments”

I then check payments from previous months and they all say internet payment

Me: audible confusion

Me: “Sir, how do you usually make your payments”

OG: “I do it online”

Me: “Oh, ok, well that’s what that is. When you make a payment for your credit card bill, it’s listed as internet payment on your statement”

OG: “oooooooh, I see. Ok, I was just confused because it said internet payment. And I don’t even have internet”
