First time poster, apologies for mobile etc. I haven’t had anything to post since discovering this sub… until now.

I was helping this lady (we’ll call her W for widow) cancel her insurance for a car she’d just sold. It was her late husband’s car and he had recently passed away, so naturally I went out of my way to be sympathetic, make the process as easy as possible for her, and waived the cancellation fees.

Then we get to the end of the call, which is heavily scripted on my end.

Me: is there anything else I can help you with today? W: you could bring my husband back

I was completely lost for words. People who say shit like “you could give me the winning lotto numbers/a million dollars hurr hurr hurr” I can deal with but I legit had no idea how she expected me to respond to that. In the end I defaulted to the script and thanked her for her call before hanging up.

24 hours later and I’m worried I’ll get in trouble if she lodges a complaint, especially since I had no ‘official’ reason to delete the fees other than I wanted to be kind. Still baffled by the conversation too.
