Not empathetic enough

I have endometriosis. It’s really really bad today and I’m in a great deal of pain. I didn’t realize it was affecting my work until my manager told me I had received a complaint.

The original call was a simple fix, (our website was asking which organization he was from) but the caller had asked me how he would have known that.

My answer to that was to ask him where he had gotten the equipment in the first place.

Apparently this was just rude.

I’ll admit, I probably could have been nicer about it, but honestly it’s really hard to be nice when my insides feel like a thousand knives are trying to rip out of me alien style.

Customer service reps don’t get to have a bad day. We have to be 100% all the damn time and it’s exhausting. I just want to go home.
