"I was arrested and incarcerated for 3 days for stealing petrol because my card was declined"

I had a customer submit a complaint because his debit card was declined at a pay at the pump fuel station, following which he drove off without paying, and was later arrested and put in a police cell for 3 days according to him. Of course this was our fault that his card was declined.

I should mention that all pay at pump fuel stations check the card before allowing fuel to be taken, and this customer’s card didn’t allow pay at pump transactions at all, which had been made clear in previous calls and stated clearly when he opened the account.. Also even if a customer fuels their car and has no payment method, there is a form that can be filled to cover this payment at a later date if required.
