Do you think it’s fair I have to get a new phone when my last generation phone (launched in 2013) is no longer able to update an obsolete app?

Happened to a coworker a few minutes ago.

The guy started complaining his almost 10 years old phone was no longer updating a certain App, complaining about planned obsolescence and whatnot.

I tend to sympathize with those people since I get where they are coming from. Yes, it’s annoying that certain functions no longer work after a few years time, but people don’t really understand what makes SmartPhones work, they think they are just like a normal landline phone with extra stuff when in reality is closer to a small PC than anything else, certain software simply will stop being supported and certain hardware simply will become outdated.

We are honestly not sure if he was trolling us or what, since we work a chat service and we got lots of those.

Some people are just on a whole different level if that guy was being honest!
