I work as an emergency roadside assistance dispatcher, and due to weather conditions in Kansas right now, we aren’t supposed to be rendering assistance and are instead advising people to call the National Guard for assistance.
Caller: We called earlier and we were told to dial *47 for the national guard, but… how do you spell that?
Me: I’m sorry?
Caller: it doesn’t spell out right. Dialing star 47 doesn’t work.
Me: Oh, you need to hit the asterisk button, followed by the numbers 4 and then 7.
They then proceeded to hit those buttons as I told them that.
Me: Ma’am? You need to do that after you hang up with me.
They then hung up. I have no idea how I kept from laughing while they were still on the phone.
