So I work at a call center for a popular local tourist attraction.

In addition to other things on property we have a beautiful garden area and since spring is just around the corner we’re getting a lot of calls about tickets and already have several complete sale out days.

We’re slammed we’re all going through calls as quickly as possible to try and get the que down below 40.

I get a call that just blows my mind..

A little preface once tickets are bought they are non refundable but a very few set of instances; covid, death, flight cancelation. Anything other than that your out of luck for a monetary refund. Tickets do never expire and we let people hold on to them for a future visit. I’ve had people call with tickets from 10 years ago we still let them use.

So I answer and she immediately goes off on me

L; “I’ve been on hold for 15 minutes this is unacceptable I’m a annual pass holder”

M; “I’m sorry but we have a very large call volume today but you have me now and I’d be more than glad to assist”

L; “I have tickets I want to use”

M “great what’s the order ID so I can look them up and verify”

Lady jerks me around a bit saying she can’t find it on the email and can I just not do her a solid and set them up. Ummmmm no I’m not going to be fired for giving you something you shouldn’t have. After telling her exactly where to find the number she magically finds it.

Low and behold they have been refunded and are no longer good for a visit.

M; “looks like you had these refunded on xdate due to covid”

L “Yes I had them refunded”

M; “soooo when you get a monetary refund it invalidates the tickets; because you got your money back so these aren’t able to be used”

L: “no they are still good”

M; “no ma’am they aren’t if you want to come on the 3rd you’ll need to buy new tickets since you got a refund they aren’t valid”

L “That’s bull***”

M “I’m sorry that’s our policy did you want to buy that 2:30 on the 3rd?”

L; “I guess I’m going to have to since your being mean to me huh?”

M “if you want to come then yes”

L “how much are you going to price gouge me today tickets for you all are ridiculous 130 dollars just for an old fu**ng house nobody lives in anymore and a run down garden”

M “prices for the 3rd are 149 per person”

L “I’m not paying that”

M “That’s the price if you want to come that’s what it’ll cost”

L “I’ll just keep calling back until I get someone nice who does this for me”

Like wtf what a basket case.
