I do mostly outbound calls using a progressive dialer. It’s not difficult work but the only thing I struggle with is I can’t tell if an actual person is on the line or if I’ve got an answering machine/voicemail. You literally don’t hear anything but a *BEEP* and then you’re supposed to start with your greeting script. It’s a little frustrating because if I read the whole thing and then hear nothing but silence, I realize I’ve just done the whole thing on someone’s voicemail and have to try to erase/re-record if possible. And last night I thought I reached a voicemail, but actually had a person on the line so that was awkward too. Does anyone have any tips or tricks?
