The sitting is killing me! Anyone else?

[ad_1]

I am a half step away from putting in a resignation notice. I work from home on a line where calls are automatically routed. Three beeps and you have a caller. You are expected to stay on ready/green status for the entirety of your shift. I am basically attached to the headset/computer with essentially no option to accept or decline a call while on ready. This means I can’t really take little breaks to walk around at all. I cut down my shift to 6 hours a day during the week, and I am still having a horrible time not being able to move around. I have gained a bunch of weight, and despite eating less and going to exercise classes, the 6 hours of sitting with no movement is not letting my weight budge. Just venting. I can’t stand this! The only thing keeping me at this job is the flexible hours while I have a young child!!

Edited to say: I appreciate all the suggestions!! I work on a state crisis line with two monitors so I have to pretty much be at the keyboard when that call comes through. Especially in the case that it is a 911 call. I am typing information from the moment I answer non stop throughout the call in most cases. A standing desk is a good suggestion, but unfortunately it doesn’t solve my longing to work at a job where I am walking around and on the move. I appreciate you guys. This is more of a whining post until I can muster up the drive and schedule solution to do something else. Worth that said I do think I am going to invest in a wireless headset and hopefully it is compatible!
