yo… just finished my shift and i’m done with customers.

lady: why can’t i see my cheques? i deposited them just now

i check, right?? turns out they were returned.

me: so they were actually returned, and since they were deposited i can’t check the image of them. could you tell me the dates on the cheque please?

lady: it’s for tomorrow.

me: so when you deposit cheques with a future date, our system automatically bounces it because the date doesn’t match today.

lady: it worked when i had cheques that were (x date)

me: yes, past dated cheques can be deposited with no issue, dates in the future will be bounced. the person who gave the cheque set the date for a day they knew they had funds in the account- that’s why we bounce them if they’re deposited early to avoid the other party getting an NSF

lady: well now i’m gonna get fees and i’ll be in the negatives. you’re gonna have to deal with that.

(should’ve thought abt that before depositing them then. you’ve gotten 6 NSF reversals and have multiple stop payments on file. you know the drill don’t lie)

me: you’ll have to go in branch about this issue, give them the physical cheques so they can make sure they’re valid and deposit them for you.

lady: so i have to displace myself? this is stupid *starts yelling and going on a tangent about it should’ve worked it’s worked before my boss gave it to me and i put it in TONIGHT because i have payments coming thru TONIGHT*

obviously i remind her her tone is agressive. in those words.

lady: of course my tone is aggressive you’re stealing my money! it’s MY MONEY I SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO IT! i’ll deposit it again, will it work?

me: our system flags cheques that were bounced in the past, it’s likely it’ll bounce again. it’s better for you to go in branch, they’ll be able to sort this out for you.

lady: WHAT DO YOU MEAN CHEQUES THAT BOUNCED IN THE PAST IVE NEVER WORKED FOR THESE PEOPLE BEFORE

me: you deposited it today. it bounced today. therefore it’s likely it’ll bounce again.

lady: BUT WHY IS IT FUCKING BOUNCING????

(here we go again. clients asking us the same shit hoping we’ll slip up and give them a different answer to point out our inconsistencies and demand a handout)

me: because the dates on the cheques don’t match todays date.

lady: BUT IVE DEPOSITED CHEQUES BEFORE WITH A DIFFERENT DATE ???

me: yes this only applies to cheques dated in the future, which these ones were.

lady starts yelling and blaming me.

me: you’ll have to discuss this in branch. i will not be continuing this call further.

lady: get me ur supervisor

me: *does and actual troll face irl and cold tfs back into the queue b cause i work nights and i have no sup past midnight*

like jesus christ what more do u want? u asked why they weren’t there. i said they were bounced. you asked why. i explained why. i offered you a solution (go in branch). i did my job, i have nothing more to give than my professional fuck you – cold tf into the queue. leave mi alone
