A brief rant about following directions

[ad_1]

I work in cell phone technical support but I also assist customers with things like email logins and general account support. It is getting to the point of ridiculous how people can not follow simple directions and it is really stressing me out.

Case in point. Helping a customer reset their email password online. The site provides concise directions on what they need to enter or provide to go to the next step. At every step they are asking me things like: “it’s asking me to enter my last name… what do I type in? ”

….

You’re last name, moron! How is this so difficult? It’s not trying to trick you!

This goes on and on and on until I’m grinding my teeth trying not to scream obscenities.

I’m done now. Thank you for listening.

The level of micro-management at call centers is deranged. It’s like being in a virtual prison.

Probably the pettiest ask for a supervisor call I’ve gotten so far
