Short story, not my first post so if there are any errors that’s my bad, I’m a debt collector and this I Just really had to share this somewhere cause this just happened.

Me: Me, EM: Entitled Mother

Me: “You’ve reached McNuggeteer with (insert company name). How can I help you?”
EM: “Hi, I’m trying to take care of my sons medical bill.”
Me: “Absolutely! Is your son currently available to give permission to talk to you?”
EM: “Well, no. My son’s been incredibly depressed and won’t even let me talk to him that’s why I’m trying to handle this.”
Me: “I do apologize ma’am, but unfortunately due to HIPAA Law I can’t give you a balance. I can accept a payment on what the clinic said was owed, but I can’t tell you if it takes care of the account-”
EM: “Are you kidding me?”
Me: “Once again I do apologize, but the law is very clear about these matters-”
EM: “My son is suicidal because of your bill and all I’m trying to do is help him out! It’ll be your fault if he commits suicide-”
Me: “Ok, you are making me feel very uncomfortable” (I spent the 2 months of 2022 being in that hole myself and it took alot to crawl out). “I will be disconnecting the call-”
EM: “I want to talk to your supervisor!”
Annnnd that was the end of it. Y’all, STOP TRYING TO PIN YOUR PROBLEMS ON US! WE DIDN’T PUT YOU IN DEBT COLLECTION AND WE CAN’T AFFORD TO LOSE OUR JOB BECAUSE YOU WANT US TO BREAK A LAW
