Don’t Answer Questions

The main part of my job is to help answer phone calls.

In general I answer questions or help then find the person/office they need to talk to.

One of the more senior staff people (who doesn’t answer calls) overheard one of my calls. The client had a few easy questions, so nothing difficult.

This senior staff person has always felt that she was much smarter and better than everyone else decided to tattle to my manger about me.

Why? Because we are too young, inexperienced, and not knowledgeable enough to answer questions.

Our manager wanted to make her happy since she was a long time employee and is known to blow up if not appeased.

He ordered us to stop answering questions. ALL OF THEM. Every caller with a question must be transferred to him.

Fine. Our job is pointless now but fine.
Our manger has been going crazy with the number of calls flooding his phone line.

Can’t wait to see how long this new rule lasts.
