For a change of pace, I wanna talk about how well meaning, nice customers get on my nerves

Context. The company I work for is currently involved in a lawsuit. The story has made major news outlets, and our adoring fans are calling and sending emails to show their support.

I know they mean well, but I can’t stand these people.

I am not allowed to talk about the lawsuit. I have a basic script that says that. But of course everyone is the special main character who thinks I’ll answer their questions and give them the inside scoop.

So now my work load has doubled. Work that is literally a waste of everyone’s time. Every email is just another file I had to fill out. Every phone call is another bullshit script I have to read while some entitled jerk says “come on, I’m your companies biggest fan. I’ve been with you for years. I support you. You can’t tell me anything?”. I literally can’t say anything other than the four sentences on the script.

It blows my mind how people will simp so hard for a corporation that doesn’t give a flying fuck about you. At least when people call in with a complaint, be if legitimate or trivial, they have a reason to call. Stop wasting my time with your praise for the company. It falls on deaf ears. The employees don’t get paid enough to give a shit that you’ve been using our products since you were a baby or have fond memories of your dead grandma using our products.

I know I sound like a grumpy asshole here. It’s just we have enough real work to do without these smooth brains clogging up the queue to waste our time.
