My last post was a request for headset recommendations, as I need a backup.
Since we moved to work from home, no further periphery supplies will be provided. If necessary, we can get a replacement computer.
It has been confirmed we will not be getting a stipend- either yearly or a one-time payment.
Many people commented on the last post that employers were legally required to pay for necessary tools and equipment needed for a position.
I looked into it. In the US, any requirement for companies to buy mandated equipment would be a state law.
The only federal law states that if an employer takes payments for required equipment from an employee paycheck, it cannot be such a large amount that the employee is effectively earning less than minimum wage.
Currently (and shamefully), our minimum wage is just above $7/hr.
At the office they were provided because they were only for official use. They cord connectors were specific shaped to only work with the company’s proprietary cables.
Since I will be able to use these for personal use as well as business, they have a second reason to make me buy them.
Just thought y’all might be interested in knowing all this.
