I lose my temper at a Grandma

This was not my proudest moment.

This is the jist of the situation. I answer the call and ask if the lady is a current customer. She says she is, that she signed up with a door sales rep and wants his name. I tell her I am just a phone sales rep and don’t have access to that information, but our current customer team in her area might be able to help.

Then she FLIPS HER LID.

“No! You give me his name and number now! All you have to do is look up my information!”

After I repeat myself several times she then screams,

“I AM CALLING THE POLICE ON YOU! I AM MARCHING DOWN TO YOUR OFFICE WITH THE POLICE AND YOUR COMPANY IS IN BIG TROUBLE!”

At this point, I think she is just another Karen flipping her lid because I didn’t tell her what she wants, plus I don’t work at her local office lol.

I think I told her there was no need for that and that the the current customer team would get her the name and number.

It’s a bit of a blur after that, but she eventually yells that the door rep took her money and never did the services.

After she screams again that she is calling the police on us…this is where I lose my cool and raise my voice so she will shut up and listen.

I said “MA’AM, I AM TRYING TO HELP YOU AND YOU WON’T LISTEN. I AM TRYING TO TELL YOU THAT WE DO NOT STEAL AND ANY SALES REPRESENTATIVE NEEDS DEALT WITH APPROPRIATELY. WE DO NOT TOLERATE THIS AND WANT TO TAKE APPROPRIATE LEGAL ACTION AND JUSTICE AND YOU ARE NOT ALLOWING US TO TO TAKE THE APPROPRIATE MEASURES TO DO SO. I AM TRYING TO SEND YOU TO THE CURRENT CUSTOMER TEAM SO THAT WE CAN HELP YOU. I WANT TO TRANSFER YOU SO THAT WE ARE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS CORRECTLY, AS WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE WITH OUR COMPANY WHO WOULD DO THIS!”

She lowered her voice to just being raised and stayed her frustration because she has called every day and the local office refuses to answer her or the other neighbours calls who have had the same thing happen to them. I gave her their number and after calming her down and letting her know I will stay on the line until.someone answers since her call is always dropped. (I’m not supposed to, but I felt it was the right thing to do.)

She apologized for having to be angry on the phone and I apologized for being short with her and she was cool with it. After 10 minutes on hold I asked if she wanted me to wait on the line still or for her to get a callback.

She said she never gets a callback, but she knows I need to do sales for a living and doesn’t want me to get hurt sales wise.

I thanked her and told her I hope she reaches someone soon and hung up.

You better bet I took a break after that.
