Dude wants a free repair for his phone he’s owned for 2 years and out of warranty

I work tech support and this dude came in complaining about display issues on his phone. It had a green tint all over the display, but much stronger on the upper half.

So I checked his phone information; he’s had it for two years and it’s no longer under warranty. I explained these to him, but he demands a free repair because “ur devices very expensive are sht low quality”.

So I gave him a link where he could enter his serial number and check his warranty status to reiterate he doesn’t have warranty anymore. I even explained that we would’ve understood if he was pertaining to a factory defect (it wasn’t), but regardless it’s been two years so he wouldn’t be able to use that excuse either.

I had to explain why he’s not getting a free repair multiple times. When he realized his shit wasn’t working with me, he proceeded to claim the damage was caused by software and because of that we should give him a complimentary repair.

Our software has not had one single case of an issue like this, so I called bs immediately. I even guided him to take a screenshot and preview the photo for him to see the green tint doesn’t appear in the screenshot, so it’s definitely not software and has to do with hardware.

This went on over and over again with me explaining why it isn’t a software issue, then he demands a free repair again.

We have a policy where if we can’t gain agreement with a customer, we could contact a senior tech support and pass them over to them. I did it and the senior took over.

Later, I went back to check what happened with this dude’s case and the senior basically just repeated everything I said. He tried to gain agreement with the customer three times that we can offer service options but he has to pay. Customer still insisted on a free repair so the senior support ended his chat because it wasn’t going anywhere.

First of all, I’ve got nothing against Indians. But, most customers I’ve had who contact us demanding free repairs for devices that are out of warranty are mostly Indians – and our queue handles customers globally. Someone shed some light why?
