Callers from India wouldn’t even try because of their language barrier.

So in a previous post, I said I worked for the Google Play Store for a year and a half. Graveyard shift in the west coast of US. 80% of the callers were in India, 10% were in Australia, 10% were in US.

About 60% of the time when Indians would call, they’d immediately hang up the moment they heard an American on the line. They usually didn’t even bother trying because of the barrier. The ones that did try would end up frustrated after a while and usually hung up. It was rare when I’d be able to successfully help a member. You know it’s bad when you answer the phone:

“Thanks for calling the Google Play Store, my name’s Jessica. How can I help you?”

And half way through you hear a sigh and a hang up. I always felt so bad they they didn’t have a department that could help them more. They have other languages, I’m surprised they didn’t have one for them. The calls were always short so it was cool because of that, but I’d always feel bad for making them feel so helpless.
